Local government sector

In some contexts, Saco associations work as a local party in negotiations with municipal employers. This is done through a local Saco council or local Saco association, and covers overall issues of cooperation and work environment, but not pay issues as these are managed by the relevant association.

Agreements in the local government sector cover around 1 million employees. The following negotiating bodies/associations negotiate and sign agreements with the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions:

AkademikerAlliansen

AkademikerAlliansen (the graduate professionals alliance) is a negotiating organisation that includes the following Saco associations: Civilekonomerna, DIK association, Swedish Association of Occupational Therapists, Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers, Jusek, Church's Graduate Association, Saco Transport and Railway Association, SRAT, Swedish Pharmacists Association, Swedish Association of Professional Scientists, Swedish Association of Architects, Swedish Psychological Association, Swedish Association of School Principals and Directors of Education, Swedish Dental Association, Swedish Association of University Teachers and the Swedish Veterinary Association. In total, there are 60,000 Saco members in the AkademikerAlliansen.

Akademikerförbundet SSR

Akademikerförbundet SSR negotiates for its members as part of the Public Employees' Negotiation Council, OFR, in the area of general municipal activities. Negotiations cover 28,000 members of Akademikerförbundet SSR.

National Union of Teachers in Sweden

The Saco association the National Union of Teachers in Sweden, and the Swedish Teachers' Union, which is part of TCO, have formed a cooperative council that negotiates as part of the Public Employees' Negotiation Council, OFR. Negotiations cover 50,000 members of the National Union of Teachers in Sweden.
