Applying for jobs can be stressful, but the more you know about the process the easier it is. This section offers help with writing an application, how to find vacant jobs and successful job interviews.
Which job do you want?
Before you start actively looking for work you should think about what types of jobs and employers you are actually interested in. What sort of tasks motivate you? What are you like as a person? Are you happy with set tasks or do you often want new projects? Ending up at the wrong company or in the wrong position is an unnecessary and sometimes difficult detour for both you and your employer.
Your presence on the internet
You should upload your CV and your personal letter to internet recruitment sites, such as LinkedIn. This takes a little time and you will need to update your profile regularly, but it is well worth the effort. LinkedIn is also a good place to look for work. Follow the companies that interest you and join groups that are relevant to your experience and education.
When you have found an interesting job
When you have found a job that interests you, sit down and read the advert very carefully. Don’t let yourself be put off by high demands; the most important thing is that you have the basic competence required for the job, i.e. the requirements that are formulated as “you must”, “you are expected to have”, “we want”, etc. The qualities that are expressed as “it is an advantage”, “it is a plus”, etc., are not ones that are essential. However, you need to write a good personal letter so that the recruiter is interested even if you don’t have some of these qualities.
